Shirley Southgate

Shirley is the Manager of Policy and Good Practice at the newly formed Office of the Information Commissioner responsible for the new Government Information Public Access Act (GIPA)

Shirley has been a solicitor for 14 years, working in WA and NSW in a range of private, community and government agencies.
For the four years prior to taking up the role at the OIC Shirley was the principal solicitor at Kingsford Legal Centre at the University of NSW, with a practice focus in anti-discrimination law and a particular interest in human rights law.
